We spent two weeks staying in Montenegro and toured all over this beautiful country, but the highlight was a 2 hour trip on this quaint little boat on Lake Skadar. There were plenty of people around touting for our custom but we were lucky enough to stumble on this little gem, a family run business, who's beautiful boat provided us with an idillic trip from Virpazer following a path through stunning water lillies before reaching the expanse of the lake, surrounded by mountains. Our hosts were a husband and wife team and they couldn't have been more welcoming or informative. Our trip was made up of just 8 passengers, a friendly crowd, it wasn't long before we were all captivated by the natural beauty of the area, there were no time restrictions, we even had a lovely swim in the lake which was like bath water. All of the other trips were larger boats which didn't seem to have the same appeal as the small more personal trip provided by 'Boat Milica'. Thank you so much.

A group of us did the Lake Skadar tour on the Milica recently. As a tourist experience they were fantastic. Prior to arriving in Montenegro Jelena was very helpful in outlining what the options were, costs etc. We tied in another tourist experience (a local meal at a family house) and she helped coordinate between the two.
When we arrived in the town of Virpazar the daughter Milica met us at the car and explained what we would be doing and how it would work. I went with her to buy the tickets for the national park and she explained that it was a family business, that she had been involved since it started some 6 years previously (she is 18 I think) and all about the business and how it has developed. She couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful.
We then were handed over to her youinger sister Ksenija and we started the trip with her as our guide. What an amazing experience. She is informative, friendly, knowledgable and fun. She was able to manage our (slightly) rowdy group and keep us interested in what we were seeing and what we were experiencing.
The cruise we took was through some of the lake and then also to a monastery which was interesting. The trust in this company is such that we passed the resident monk on his way away from the monastery and he said "you know where the key is, let yourself in".
I had initially been concerned that three hours in a national park would be too long for our restless group; in fact we went for almost 3.5 hours in the end, but with Ksenija this was not the case. She is engaging and charming.
Without exception everyone in our group though this was an excellent experience and exceptional value. We also loved the fact that it was a family run business and you can tell they love and take pride in what they do. This aspect added immeasurably to the overall experience.
If you head to Lake Skadar use Milica. You won't regret it.

We had an excellent three hour boat ride with Boat Milica on Lake Skadar. I arranged the tour by email in advance with Jelena, who was very quick to answer my emails. She wrote me the possibilities and we chose to go to Kom Monastery, which is a very special and beautiful place. On the way we saw many types of birds, including the big pelican native to the lake. Jelena's daughter gave the commentary while her father drove the boat, while also giving commentary that Milica (the daughter) then translated. The whole family was very friendly and attentive, and we learned a lot about Montenegro as well as about the lake. Milica also recommended a restaurant back in Virpazar for lunch and gave us the phone number of a taxi to call for the ride back to the train station. All in all, a very enjoyable, professionally-run experience.

This is a very special treat for all those who wish to acknowledge and experience the real beauty of nature. I have never seen so many wild bird species in their natural environment so close before. Milica is from a family that is totally committed to sharing the wonders of Lake Skadar. Take advantage of this... you won't regret it.

This lake is so scenic and beautiful. Our guide, Vlad, was incredibly friendly and a great guide. He knew a lot about the lake and the birds living there, and even explained a lot to us about Montenegro's history and culture. We stopped to swim in the lake and it was incredible! We did the 2 hour tour and had a great time. This is definitely who you want to book a boat trip with! One member of our group is a kid who usually gets bored during this type of activities but even he had a great time!

We saw so many birds. Our guide Peter was incredibly knowledgeable about the birdlife and the lake. We learnt so much from him and would highly recommend a tour with him! The Kom Monastery is stunning and so we'll preserved. We were in awe of this 600+ year old structure and the history around it. Big shout out to the team for all their help and patience with us when we were late! We'll definitely be coming back to Boat Milica should we be lucky enough to visit Virpazar again. Highly recommended!!

Perfect afternoon trip on lake skadar in boat Milica which is a beautiful boat with wooden roof. Tour guide and Skipper were fantastic with the kids, showing them how to drive the boat, making hats and necklaces out of lilipads and we stopped for a swim in the lake. Awe-inspiring scenery. Definitely an unforgettable trip. Highly recommend.
